Natural Products to Groom your Dog

Pet products can cost a lot, but there are many natural things you can use to make your own products at home. You can use oils and natural products such as Argan oil, coconut oil, and cornstarch for grooming your dog.

Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil has many healing properties and is excellent for conditioning your dog's fur and skin. You can also use a little coconut oil on a cotton ball (never use a q-tip because you could poke your dog's ear) as a natural way to clean the bacteria in their ear.

Coconut oil is also great for taking out tangles and mats before their bath. Simply warm it up or rub it in your hands and apply it generously to their coat. Brush it through with a slicker brush to take out tangles. Even if your dog has short hair, it is still great for conditioning their skin. It washes out nicely with shampoo afterward. You can also use it to deep condition your dog's fur at night before bed and wash them in the morning. Coconut oil is best used before the bath or else your dog may be too oily.

In addition, you can use coconut oil to moisturize your dog's paw pads, their nose, or any other dry spots. To do a deep conditioning paw treatment, gently exfoliate their paws first and then massage some coconut oil into their paws. You can use it to moisturize your own skin as well, but be careful on your face as it can clog your pores if you do not rinse it off afterward.

Argan Oil:

Argan oil is great for detangling your dog's fur. Use it sparingly after the bath, a little goes a long way. You can also make your own detangling spray and add a little argan oil to it. You can also use argan oil on your own skin and hair.

Cornstarch:

Cornstarch is good to have on hand for grooming your dog. You can use it to break up mats and detangle your dog. It also brightens and whitens their coat and gets rid of excess oil. You can use it as an ingredient in a dry shampoo or detangling spray.
