All Stellar addresses must maintain a minimum balance of XLM at all times. The Stellar network has set the current minimum at 1 XLM. The minimum balance requirement is in place to prevent users from overloading the network and to help with prioritising. The first time a new Stellar address is used, it must receive at least one XLM. This will activate the address and allow it to be used in future network transactions. You will never be able to send your whole Stellar balance from this location. That 1 XLM minimum will always be required as a reserve.
